Man Oh Man...

Have you ever seen a guy walking down the street and think to yourself "Did he look in the mirror before he left the house?/ He clearly still needs mom's help!" Or there are those guys who make you look twice and you wonder "Damn, thank goodness there are men who still know how to dress (and groom themselves)." Recently I have been thinking about the fact that I love the fashion trends men are wearing. There are so many looks for a guy, and if the right look is on the right guy, well let's just say their swagger is definitely impressing me. I'll make a confession, I'm not lying when I say that I love the matching color tall tee, Nike Air Jordan and matching fitted flat brim hat look on a guy who can pull it off in confidence and wear it well. Thank goodness for those men who can match the color of their shirt with their shoes and pull a color from both that is in their hat to bring the entire outfit together. To all men out there who can match their clothes - you deserve a round of applause. :)

One of my favorite companies that sells women and mens clothing is Akomplice, they have done a really good job branding themselves and I have seen Akomplice represented all over the mid west! Some of my favorite pieces they have for men at really affordable prices for the quality of design and fabric that they use. {all of their products can be purchased online}

Handmade Tee (My favorite color combinations) I love how they pay attention to detail and switch the color of the front pocket on every garment. Here is the Navy with a white pocket and the White Royal with a Blue pocket.

This is their "SexTantis" Tee which I love, extremely sexy.

Timeless

This tee shirt is also a women's dress that has a wide neck to drape off the shoulders. I own one and I have had it for a couple of years. I love it! Perfect little black dress, and steezy when you pair it with some matching high tops ;)

 Love these!

Electric Blues

I have always been a fan of American Apparel, they have such a classic style going for them. Their leggings are clean and yet exciting. I think they are a must have in your closet! I have been admiring the beautiful and glamorous Denni Elias from Paris, France lately. She has been in Glamour magazine as well as other magazine covers such as ModeGal, and she is a model for American Apparel. She has a blog as well, check her out at www.thechicmuse.blogspot.com.

I became inspired when I came across her blog. She has a lot of knowledge of the fashion and modeling industry. I especially like her post about American Apparel leggings I think this look is extremely chic and I admire her passion for fashion!

Kali's Denim Aspen

Recently I moved back to the mountains to rediscover my love for the winter season. Let's just say, that didn't take too long. I am all nestled into my home again and loving working in Aspen. I love love love winter fashion, it has changed drastically from when I used to live in the mountains however it will always be timeless. Working at Gorsuch Limited in Aspen, I am now exposed to the high fashion designers I love and admire. Although I will never be able to afford anything in the store, I can still dream about wearing the $3,500 Roberto Cavalli Litizia coat ;)

Aside from loving all of the high fashion I am surrounded by forty hours a week, there are some semi-affordable and easy fashion shopping gems in Aspen. I came across Kali's Denim a month ago when I came to town with my mom. I absolutely love the easy Aspen ensemble they carry. Located in a great location right in the new Fat City Plaza, window shoppers are bound to come across some fabulous pieces to lure them inside. The denim lines she carries that are the best sellers for the season are under $150! Divine Rights of Denim won't put a hole in your pocket, but a new pair of jeans in your closet. The distressed jean look is super cute this season, I fell in love with the skinny jean from Siwy for $212, and a little different baggy distressed jean from Tag+ that is just $152. Perfect with some brown suede boots!

Other than the denim she carries in her store, I found some great must have's for Aspen's winter season such as their t-shirts that are one size fits all- perfect easy fashion staple. I am obsessed with sweaters, and Kalis' has some unique jackets and sweaters for the winter season.

By Doma- Orange Leather Jacket
 By John Eshaya- Fur Vest
This has to be my ultimate favorite for winter! This needs to be in your closet.
Perfect with skinny jeans and boots.
 By Wildfox- Peace Sign Pullover
Super comfy, easy fashion look again. Pair it with jeans or your favorite lounge pants.

By- Alternative
Kali's also carries some distinct accessories like this saddle bag with fringe. Saddle bags are adorable this season!
If you are visiting the mountains this season, be sure to stop in her store to take a peek! Glamor Glamor Glamor!!
Until next time-
xoxo Alex

Tickled Pink

Since Spring has passed, Summer is here, and Autumn is just around the corner, I think this calls for a celebration to wear pink! I normally am not so into the color pink, but recently I have been living with my best friend and former roommate from freshman year of college who is, I guess you could say, a little pink-a-holic. The other day I caught her doing her laundry and we have an old school line dry in our back yard, you know the ones that they used to have back in the day when dryers didn't exist. Well, she is all about line drying her clothes, and I look out our apartment window to see that her whites were not so white but mostly pink! I thought it was the cutest thing ever because it totally matches her bubbly, girly personality to a T.

Pink is the perfect Spring and Summer color. I have found some super cute things online that I have fell in love with I wanted to share with all of you! Enjoy!

Super cute, classy and pink! Add it to your wishlist ;)

BCBG pink dress with embroidered flowers= girls favorite summer party dress. Love it.

If this Urban Outfitters Motel Lesley Dress doesn't scream sexy and cute, I don't know what does. Summer favorite!

Til next time lovelies- Stay chic

Summer Time Groovin' to the Maxi-Mum

I love maxi dresses, especially when they are just the right length for my long legs. I've seen this style all over town, it's super cute and totally perfect for summer. I even have come up with ways of making the maxi skirt into a maxi dress, always try to wear something in a different way than it is meant to be worn, you'll find some super cute looks no one else will have!

I am planning on going to some music festivals and shows- I think this look is perfect for the occasion! All you fellow Red Rocks lovers should take note, you will look stunning in this look at a show and it's certainly very comfortable to dance all night in! This look is definitely making moves to bring back the '60's and '70's gypsy girl fashion and I am loving it! Here are a few ideas and dresses I currently have as well as some accessories you must look into <3

This white maxi skirt from Express has dual purposes in my closet! I have worn it as a dress with a cute belt around the empire waistline.
The belt I paired it with is from Forever 21, all of their belts would work with this as a dress though! (I would recommend a wider belt over a thinner one) I love the metal clasp and this belt would go great with a high-waist-ed skirt too.
Beautiful, simple maxi dress from Forever 21 for a great price of only 28$!! I love the lace on the top shoulder straps and the length is perfect for some simple sandals.
Perfect accessory for this dress would be either of these hand bags by Malababa, a Spanish leather goods online store. (Check out Ana Carrasco's website, she is the founder of Malababa in 1997- now sold in more than 300 stores in Mexico, Argentina, USA, Japan, Kuwait, China and several European countries.)
I came across these while surfing The Cool Hunter website under their fashion tab and immediately fell in love! But a girl can only dream so much, for a heavy price these beautiful bags are on my wish list.

This is such an elegant summer time look, I definitely would wear this to Happy Hour at the Country Club (mom and dad in Aspen Glen!) And I could see my mom wearing this well at one of her many summer time cocktail parties. FYI it comes in navy blue too! I don't think I would pair it with heels like the model Ralph Lauren has, maybe a cute sandal that wraps up the ankle.
.....(Just so that when you hold up the sides of the dress while walking there's a little more to show off that no one knew you were hiding!)....
I have been peeping this dress for a couple weeks, if only it would go on sale already! Free People
killing it once again with this Kona Maxi dress in green. The other colors: peach, raspberry and brown are all cute too, but the green is my favorite! In my opinion they modeled this dress perfectly with some moccasin style sandals with a wrap around bracelet. The neckline gives enough attention to her face, which could be your face! Exactly why earrings aren't necessary. This is a Red Rocks
and music festival must have for the summer.
And finally, the perfect accessory for any of these looks: Urban Outfitters Dolce Vita Eliza Braided Sandals. Simple, perfect for a maxi style skirt or dress. Remember, you have to give them something to look at even if your ankles are covered up! : )

'Til next time babes!
xoxo love,

1960's Great Put-On Fashion

My Grandfather gave me a book a while back that is all about the 1960's and 1970's and it has some great photos from youth's fashion in that era. I think that some of the styles are coming back in our generation's youth fashion now. It was a time of extreme exhibitionism, men and women were revealing as much skin as possible one day, then dressing up with gypsy skirts and dresses, billowing pants, colorful and unique prints on velvet and lace fabrics the next. The hair style that was in was long, for men and women, which I think some men can pull off the long hair style look (like my brother) however, these days it doesn't seem to be as "in" as it used to. Personally I love the inspiration the 60's and 70's has, I love the mini skirt look with tights. I think this has made a come back over the years especially in the last few, you can find tights in any pattern, color and style you wish. Here's some of my favorite's from this book. Enjoy!

Fashion icon Twiggy created the famous look that made off-beat colors, shapes and fabrics that was called Mod. Exposing all of the female legs, America adapted quickly to the mini skirt look. I love this photo, I think it captures everything that Twiggy is and exactly what women wanted to dress like in this decade.

The most outrageous fashions of the 60's was the funky look. Putting together things that don't go together and making it look great even though it may not match and you most certainly wouldn't find the entire outfit in a store. Fringed vests are coming back into style, however I think it would be hard to find many men who would still wear a vest with nothing underneath on a daily basis anymore. People would find old clothing from previous years, such as the 40's or 50's, and add that unique wrap around top to some laced leather pants. I can't help but love her hair style in this photo, curls are the perfect touch to an outfit as funky as this.

Feathers, lace, showy decorations, unique jewelery and beads were worn at the Los Angeles love-in.

"Got no deeds to do No promises to keep I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep Let the morning time drop all its petals on me Life, I love you All is groovy."
-Paul Simon The 59th Street Bridge Song Feelin' Groovy

This look captures the 60's best-of high fashion. The backless bathing suit was the new low for fashion, Vogue put it best: "The cutout gives a certain deliciousness to the small of the back." A woman's back is one of the sexiest features the female form has, among everything else of course. It's still acceptable to show off a little of the small of your back and you'll leave with heads turning!
Rock-and-roll phenomena of the Beatles really gave way to an all new fashion statement. The four musicians took youth in the 60's by surprise, but they ran with it and made it an amazing fashion statement of the decade.
People adopted the czarist Russia of a past time and this style was all about military boots that were thigh high, long trench coats and fur hats. America's youth made this fashion statement overtly exaggerated, the Russian look was all American at this point. Thigh highs will always be in, on certain occasions of course!

Royal From Head to Toe

The recent Royal Wedding has been the talk of the town, or more like the talk of the world. Kate Middleton took my breath away in her Alexander McQueen wedding gown.

Sarah Burton and Kate created this timeless design featuring a hand-cut French and English Chantilly lace on the skirt and bodice.  The silhouette of the skirt was inspired by an open flower design, a stunning shade of ivory. Narrow at the waist and some padding at the hips, this dress was an example of Alexander McQueen's excellence.

Kate's veil was my favorite, it was beautifully silk lined with hand embroidered flowers.
Her train was 9 feet long and draped over Alexander McQueen shoes, which Kate took her first royal steps in. I have never seen something so beautifully crafted, it was straight out of a fairy tale!

The royal wedding was truly a fairytale. I think that every girl in the entire world wishes they could be a princess, Kate Middleton is one lucky girl!

While I was amazed with her beautiful gown, I did not expect to see the fashionable other royals and guests! They had the most unique hats and outfits, who knew they were so fashionable? Designer, Phillip Tracy's nude-toned hats were worn most at the event. Almost all guests wore some nude-toned outfit to kick off the summer season, beautifully and tastefully of course.

Until next time, I'm finding myself a hat for the summer!
